Staying on Top of the Game

As a marketer, I struggle daily to keep up with the ever-changing digital world in which we live. Sure, I read the Mashable blog and other columnists, but I can’t spend all day trying to stay knowledgeable.
Just a week ago, a fellow Lake Communicator member told me about some SEO changes that Google is making effective in June. Wow, I thought, how in the world can I keep up with all of the updates to web and social media?
That’s why our special September Digital Marketing Seminar will be a must-attend event. To be held the morning of September 16 from 8:30 to noon, this event will focus on keeping you current on “all things digital.” Find out the latest in SEO techniques, and what to do to make your website current for 2015. Learn from an expert the techniques to deliver an effective social media campaign.
Do you know how to purchase advertising on Facebook, Google Adwords, and Youtube pre-roll? I know I’m looking forward to learning the best practices for a successful digital media campaign.
Look for more information coming soon about this three-hour event with four or five different speakers. This seminar is essential for any marketing professional.

SEO To-do List: Optimize Your Site for Mobile!

On April 21, Google introduced momentous changes to search engine results pages (SERPs) on mobile phones. If your website is optimized for mobile phones you are given a hefty edge over non-optimized sites.
Beyond getting good search engine results, there’s the basic fact that you should make your website easy to read for your customers. Some report now that a majority of website users now use mobile phones to get online, although this varies depending on industry.
So, I strongly recommend that you move to “responsive design,” which means that your one website will work well on a variety of devices. Responsive design website layouts change based on the browser width. For example you can try the Lake Communicators website. As you shrink and expand the browser window, the layout will change.
Unless you have redesigned your website very recently, it is good to optimize the site for mobile in conjunction with a redesign, as it is more efficient and thus less costly, programming-wise, to do both together.
